This course is aimed at all personnel who are required to enter Low Risk Confined Space and act as a Top Man/Person (Safety Attendant).
Working in confined spaces exposes an individual to a range of potential hazards, some of which may threaten injury and, in some instances may possibly lead to death. Therefore specialist training and assessment is required to equip those undertaking this type of work with the necessary skills and competencies to assess risk, control hazards and work safely.

Who Should Attend?
Those that are required to enter and work within a low risk environment with adequate natural or mechanical ventilation, the access appears simple and unobstructed and there is no likely risk of flooding (for example meter pits, valve chambers; stairwells).Low Risk confined spaces could be associated with lone working requiring the application of appropriate procedures.

You must be over 16 years of age and medically fit to take the qualification – a mandatory requirement within current industry regulations.

• Acting on unsafe activity, equipment and environmental conditions

• Vacated work area procedure
• Behaviour when working in a confined space.

The course contains both practical and theory-based learning. There will be a practical and written assessment conducted and assessed by the instructor to ensure competency has been achieved.

Upon successful completion, the candidate will be issued with certification by the ECITB, valid for 2 years.

FAQ's

Who Should attend?

This course is for anyone who will be working in classified low-risk confined spaces. You must be over 16 years of age and medically fit to take the qualification – a mandatory requirement within current industry regulations.

What do I need to bring with me?

On day one of the course, you will be expected to bring a form of photographic ID with you. Suitable forms include a driver’s license and/or passport.

What accreditation will I receive?

Depending on which course you have signed up for, you will receive either an ACTTnow certificate or a City & Guilds certificate.

Both courses, you will be expected to complete a practical and a written assessment.

How long does the certificate last?

Both the ACTTnow and City & Guilds certificate last for 3 years. You will need to renew before the certificate runs out.

Is there any funding for this course?

Those who pay into the ECITB levy, may be able to recover the course fees for City & Guilds courses. Please do check with ECITB before buying this course.

How many people will be on the course?

There will be a maximum of 10 people on this course, and a minimum of 3. This is to make sure you receive the quality of training we pride ourselves on giving.

What time does the course start and finish?

The course starts at 0900 and aims to finish between 1530 to 1600.

Do I need PPE?

You will need to bring overalls, steel toe cap boots/shoes, hard hat, gloves, and goggles.

We will provide the harness.

What is included in the price?

All course materials, and a light lunch* is included in the price.

*Please note we can’t cater to all dietary requirements

How long does it take for certification to arrive?

Physical certificates will be sent to the address the booker provided. This can take anywhere between 5 to 10 days. Digital certificates can take up to 5 days and will be sent to the email originally used for the booking.

When will I receive my joining instructions?

Your joining instructions will be sent as soon as booking is confirmed, and payment received.

Can I change my booking?

Is there parking?

Yes, there is limited parking outside the training centre.
