Who Should Attend?
This qualification is designed for staff members who have a specific responsibility for fire safety in the workplace, such as a designated fire warden/fire marshal.
Learning Outcomes
The course covers the following areas so the learner will:
- Be aware of basic fire safety principles
- Be able to know causes of fires in the workplace
- Be able to understand the role of a fire marshal / fire warden.
- Be able to understand the principles of fire risk control
- And have a thorough understanding of fire-fighting equipment.
- How to use portable fire extinguishers (theory based)
- Common fixed firefighting equipment
- Duties of employers and employees in regard to fire safety
- Simple fire safety inspections
- Fire risk assessments
- Understanding the role of the fire warden / fire marshal
Modules will cover
- The Fire Triangle
- How fires are caused
- Hazards during or after a fire
- Characteristics of fire and smoke spread
- Methods used to identify and control fire hazards
- ‘Means of escape’
- Fire Detection
- Principles of extinguishing fires
The course will conclude with candidates undertaking a multi-choice examination, the successful completion of which will result in the awarding of a QA Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (QCF) which is an Ofqual Regulated Qualification accredited by Qualsafe Awards, valid for 3 years.

What do I need to bring with me?
On day one of the course, you will be expected to bring a form of photographic ID with you. Suitable forms include a driver’s license and/or passport.
What accreditation will I receive?
You will receive a Qualsafe Virtual Certificate.
Delegates are expected to complete a multi-choice and written assessments to pass.
How long does the certificate last?
All Qualsafe certificates last for 3 years.
Is there any funding for this course?
Those who pay into the ECITB levy, may be able to recover the course fees for City & Guilds courses. Please do check with ECITB before buying this course.

How many people will be on the course?
There will be a maximum of 10 people on this course, and a minimum of 3. This is to make sure you receive the quality of training we pride ourselves on giving.
What time does the course start and finish?

Do I need PPE?
No PPE is required, everything will be provided. We do ask that long hair is tied back for the practical’s.
What is included in the price?
All course materials, and a light lunch* is included in the price.

How long does it take for certification to arrive?
The certificates will be sent to the email address the booker provided. This can take anywhere between 5 to 10 days.
When will I receive my joining instructions?

Is there parking?
Yes, there is limited parking outside the training centre.
